Having moved twice in ten months, I know a little something about being overwhelmed by the amount of boxes and clutter surrounding me.
I find that if my home is not tidy, my brain is as messy as the atmosphere. I get anxious, confused and am easily overwhelmed by things that shouldn't be all that overwhelming. When I look up, I notice I'm surrounded by STUFF! And with stuff, comes anxiety.
If you're feeling overwhelmed and anxious when you're in your home, look around. If you have stuff littering your counters, overstuffing your drawers - maybe it's time to do a little spring cleaning and junk the junk. Donate clothes you haven't worn in the last year, toys your kids have outgrown. Save some of the sentimental stuff, but dump the rest. Check out different organization options - Pinterest has plenty of ideas, and it doesn't have to cost a lot to get organized. You just need some elbow grease and a plan.
Remember, you don't have to wait until spring to get cleaning. Try working on one room at a time - even if you schedule the decluttering for one room a month, you'll be done by the end of the year, and not have to rush to donate your goods along with the rest of the universe on New Year's Eve.
When you're house is tidy, the energy surrounding it will be calmer and more settled. It will allow you to stay focused and just get that 'Home Sweet Home' feeling. Give it a whirl, and let me know how it goes.
